Qualified General Members will:
Possess a U.S. MD/DO degree or an accepted international equivalent.
Receive Board of Trustees approval following a positive review of ethics, professional status, and professional activities.
Resident & Fellow Membership

Our Ten Commandments
At the USMA, our work is guided by principles that put physicians and patients first. These ten commandments shape everything we do.
1.
The integrity of the Physician Patient Relationship shall be the top priority for the USMA and will inform every position it adopts.
2.
The wellbeing of each physician’s patient is, and of right ought to be, his or her most important professional priority.
3.
The UMSA shall always work to protect, enhance, and improve the physician’s station in society.
4.
The USMA will always maintain that there is no substitute for the physician.
5.
The USMA shall never allow any undue outside influence to interfere with the manner in which it represents its members and the medical profession.
6.
In line with the spirit of the Hippocratic Oath, the termination of a human life shall never fall within the physician’s scope of practice.
7.
In working to care for a patient, the physician shall always work within the confines of those immutable characteristics of his or her patient.
8.
The USMA will work to develop educational programs for students and physicians that will enhance their knowledge base, skills, and ethics consistent with the precepts memorialized in these commandments.
9.
Optimal reimbursement for the work a physician does is essential to the wellbeing of the profession and to the wellbeing of those who practice it.
10.
Physicians are, by nature, members of a special fraternity of professionals who owe it to themselves, their colleagues, and their vocation to support each other both professionally and outside of the confines of their practices.
About Us
Founded by physicians for physicians, the USMA is creating a platform where doctors can learn, connect, and lead. Our full suite of programs is on the horizon, but our mission is already clear: protect physician autonomy and put the doctor–patient relationship first.
